September News

Fall is fast approaching, that means the club’s busy season is here. Membership meetings, Oktoberfest, Warren Miller, and then off to the slopes. It’s going to be just that fast so buckle up.

Membership Meetings will be held at Brick Street of Grand Blanc (1223 E Grand Blanc Rd). There you can sign up for Western trips, bus trips, lessons and U-drives while visiting with skiing buddies. If the weather permits we will meet outside on the patio. The first meeting on Sept. 12th will have a Euchre Tournament right after our short meeting at 7:00. Start getting your Halloween costumes ready for our Halloween party on October 24th. The Halloween party is always well attended and lots of fun.

Oktoberfest Oct. 12th at Mt Holly the Schussmeisters will take on a German flair. This catered event will have a great traditional Bavarian meal with live music, Oktoberfest beer and a cornhole tournament with night lighting. Invite your friends and join us for a great fall festival.

Warren Miller November 23rd at the University of Michigan-Flint with two shows this year. Also new this year is a student ticket. Show your student ID and get a 5.00 discount on the ticket. As always tickets can be purchased on our web site or from any board member. There will be lots of door prizes and vendors with SWAG.

I-75 Clean Up The Schussmeisters are responsible for cleaning a section of I-75. In return for our labor the state posts our name on a sign located on I-75 letting people know that we are a civic-minded club. John Jones is heading up this task force and it’s coming up on September 28th. If you want to help with the cleanup contact John Jones.

Schussmeisters Lesson Program. One of the benefits to the club is our Free Lessons. This year the Ski School will provide lessons to our membership starting at five on Thursdays. So, if you’re one of those that can get out early on Thursdays give Floyd Jones a call and get set up for a lesson. As always we offering lessons on Thursday evenings right after the meeting at seven and on Tuesday mornings from ten to noon. Come out and let us help you take your riding to the next level.

Western and European Ski Trips. Still on the fence about taking a fantastic ski vacation? Better jump before it’s too late. Whitefish and Snowbird are closed already, but the good news is PARK CITY still has some room for you. Lisa Carny has put together a great trip filled with skiing at Park City, Deer Valley and Sundance. The cost is right and it’s time to pull the trigger. For those wanting a European vacation with skiing, fine dining and lots of culture contact Pam Bradshaw before her trip to the Dolomites, Val Di Fassa, and Vigo is filled. You won’t see Italy at a better price than what Pam has put together for you. Visit our web site at SkiMich.com for all the details on both trips.

The New Web Site should be online by the time you read this newsletter. Tim has put a lot of time into it and all the nuts and bolts should be good to go. We will be going over all of the content information to fine tune that once it’s online. Take some time to check it out and let me know what you think.

Join us at Brick Street, let’s get this season off and running.
