SUMMARY:Schussmiesters’ Presents Henry Walder Memorial Race And Ski -A -Thon
DESCRIPTION:Ski-A-Thon Information and Registration\n\n\n\n\n\nGS Race Information and Registration\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Schussmeisters of Michigan in conjunction with Mt. Holly Ski Resort and Ski School are sponsoring a fund raiser for the Special Olympics to raise money to support area 13’s winter athletes. \n\n\n\nHenry Walder an immigrant from Switzerland once headlined in the Flint Journal as “Flint’s Mr. Ski.” After a tour in the Army and a short stent at GM Henry returned to his Swiss tradition of skiing. From his makeshift rope tow on the sledding hills at Swartz Creek Golf Course to the slopes of Mt Holly Henry spent his life promoting the sport of skiing in and around Genesee County. The owner of Ski Haus\, founder of The Schussmeisters’ Ski Club and Tyrollian Ski Group Henry’s life revolved around helping people become better skiers. So it is in his memory and in Henry’s tradition of promoting the joy of skiing we now support these athletes with special needs. \n\n\n\nWe are reaching out to all of those who’s skiing or snowboarding has been impacted by Henry to come join us on a special day to celebrate his contributions to a sport we enjoy so much. We also reach out to everyone who loves this winter sport and are compelled to help encourage and to support our Special Olympics Athletes enjoy the sport of skiing and snowboarding. \n\n\n\nThe event will begin at 9:00 a.m. with both the Ski-A-Thon and GS race. The GS race will consist of two runs on Holly’s Canon race hill with divisions by age groups and gender. Awards will be presented to first – third places.  \n\n\n\nA special Open division with top seeded local racers combining times with the Special Olympics Athletes will compete for “The Henry Walder Cup”. A trophy that will display at Mt Holly engraved with the names of the winning team for all to see. \n\n\n\nThe Ski-A-Thon will be based on the number of runs participants can make during a 5 hour period\, this will be both on an individual and team basis.
